Always be an original instead of a copy of someone else
Two films provide a guiding principle in my life: “Billy Elliot” and “Dead Poets Society”. They ensure I am led by the questions: “Why am I here? How can I make a positive difference? Dare I follow my heart?” These questions form the basis of my core ethos “let it flow”. In relation to organisations I summarise this metaphorically as “organisational acupuncture”. The core is making a non-judgemental connection with another person and his current situation, so that from there we can together unlock the potential.
In working with people I have learned that behavioural change is not achieved by persuasion, tips & tricks. Through intensive personal work and diverse training I learned to develop myself as an “instrument”. In doing so, it became clear to me that you influence people not by what you say, but by what you do and above all by the person that you are.
Appreciative Inquiry and working in a systemic, process- and solution-focused way are crucial elements of how I work. That’s why I clicked immediatly with Kessels & Smit, The Learning Company. Over the next few years I aim to concentrate further on coaching, systemic work, leadership and organisational development, and working with large groups. In times that talent, knowledge, creativity, innovation, and passion have all become crucial to organisations, I see the need for another type of organisation and a different type of leadership. I am happy to support the search for an alternative way of doing things.
I also want to spend more time supporting people in their quest for their own personal mission or goal. Organisations have every interest in their staff making a contribution connected with their heart. Passion and inspiration however are not competencies to be learned or enforced, but the harvest of a process of search and growth. Organisations that provide a healthy foundation for this will thus make the difference …
